Ask your assistant to make the memorial

I would like your help creating a memorial on Cherished Book (cherishedbook.com) for someone I have lost. It might be a person or a pet.

Please go gently. I may have lost them recently. Only their name is needed, so ask for what I can comfortably tell you and do not press me for dates or details.

First, work out which of these you can do.

1. If you can use MCP connectors, connect to the Cherished Book MCP server at https://app.cherishedbook.com/api/mcp. If I need to add it in your settings first, tell me exactly where. Then create the memorial and help me write the obituary there.

2. If you cannot connect, help me find the words. Then give me a link that opens the Cherished Book form with what we wrote already filled in, so I can check it and finish it myself. Build it from https://app.cherishedbook.com/start with these URL-encoded parameters:
- name: their name (required)
- type: person or pet
- born and died: dates as YYYY-MM-DD, only if I have told you
- species: for a pet, such as dog or cat
- mode: self to use the words we wrote, or ai to let Cherished Book write from notes
- title and subtitle: a heading and a short line under it, with mode=self
- story: the obituary, up to 1,500 characters, with mode=self
- notes: facts for Cherished Book to write from, up to 1,000 characters, with mode=ai
Keep the whole link under 2,000 characters.

Two rules matter most.
- A link creates nothing. The memorial only exists once I finish the form and confirm my email with Cherished Book. Tell me you have prepared it, never that it is done.
- Never tell me a memorial is live or published unless Cherished Book has said so. Everything is safety-checked before it appears.

What your assistant will do

That depends on the assistant, and the prompt helps it work out which kind it is. If you are not sure, ask it.

Some can connect to us. They create the memorial, help you write the obituary and look after it afterwards. If yours asks you to add a connector yourself, add one for cherishedbook.com at https://app.cherishedbook.com/api/mcp.

Most can only help with the words. They cannot create anything here. They help you write about the person, then give you a link that opens our form with it all filled in. You check it and finish it yourself, so you see every word before anyone else does.

Either way the memorial is the same, with the same safety checks, and our own help with writing is free.

What a connected assistant can do

• Create a memorial for a person or a pet
• Write the obituary, or use words you have already written
• Change the wording later, or the design, or who can see it
• Add the photo you want at the top of the page
• Add where they are laid to rest, and directions for visitors
• Read the tributes people have left, and publish or hide them
• Delete a memorial, which you can undo from your dashboard

What it cannot do

These limits are built in. You do not have to switch them on.

• It cannot email anyone. No invitations, no messages to your family, nothing sent on your behalf.
• It cannot see anyone else's memorials. Only the ones you look after.
• It cannot publish anything that fails our safety check. Every memorial and tribute is checked before it appears.
• It cannot change your account or sign in as you.
• It cannot rewrite what someone else wrote. Tributes stay in the words the person chose.

You stay in control

An assistant can only do what you allowed, and you can take that back at any time. Open Connected apps in your account to see what is connected and when it was last used, and to disconnect it. Your memorials are not affected.

The first time an assistant uses its access, we email you to say so. If it was not you, that email has a link to shut it off.

What your assistant can see

Our own AI runs on our servers, and nothing you write is sent anywhere else. That covers the safety checks and the help with writing the obituary.

A connected assistant reads your memorial using the permission you gave it. We do not send it to anyone. Your assistant collects it, and where that happens depends on which assistant you use. If you ask it to help with tributes, that includes what other people wrote and the email address they left.

None of this happens unless you connect one, and disconnecting stops it. Our AI statement explains where each part runs.

The rules, briefly

A connected app acts as you, so what it creates is yours, as if you had written it. Please read what it wrote before you share the memorial with your family.

Access is for looking after your own memorials, with limits on how many you can create and how quickly. If someone makes memorials in bulk, or for people they have no connection to, we withdraw access and take the content down. The full wording is in our terms.
