Modern Slavery Statement

Our voluntary commitment to ethical operations and supply chain transparency.

Last updated: June 2026

Our Commitment

At Cherished Book (operated by ARCTURUS LABS LTD), we have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. While our annual turnover is below the threshold that legally requires a statement under the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015, we voluntarily publish this statement as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility commitment to ethical business practices.

Our Operations and Supply Chain

We are a digital software-as-a-service (SaaS) business based in the United Kingdom. Our primary operations involve software development, design, and platform management. Because we are a digital business, our supply chain is relatively short and predominantly consists of technology and infrastructure providers, as well as office hardware suppliers.

Infrastructure Partners

We rely on major global technology partners for our cloud infrastructure, edge caching, and off-site backups, specifically Google Cloud and Cloudflare. We actively review the modern slavery commitments of these key partners:

  • Google Cloud: Covered by Google's global Statement Against Modern Slavery, which mandates a strict Supplier Code of Conduct prohibiting forced labor, child labor, and human trafficking globally.
  • Cloudflare: Adheres to the UK Modern Slavery Act and enforces a Third-Party Code of Conduct. Their policies explicitly state that discovery of unethical activities is grounds for immediate termination.

Hardware Suppliers

The hardware used to run our origin servers and office infrastructure is sourced from reputable UK-based suppliers (including Amazon UK, CCL, and Scan). We prioritize purchasing from vendors who have clear, published commitments to ethical supply chains and anti-slavery practices.

Our Policies on Slavery and Human Trafficking

We are committed to ensuring there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in any part of our business or supply chain. To achieve this, we:

  • Pay all direct employees and contractors at or above the UK Real Living Wage.
  • Ensure a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace where all workers are treated with dignity and respect.
  • Conduct due diligence when selecting new technology partners or hardware vendors, preferring those with public commitments to human rights.

Continuous Improvement

As our business grows, we will continue to monitor our supply chain and refine our procurement processes to ensure our ethical standards are upheld. We review this voluntary statement annually.
