Welcome to Cherished Book
Cherished Book is a collaborative platform helping families preserve and share the memories of loved ones. Grief is a deeply personal experience, and memorialisation takes many forms across different cultures and traditions. These guidelines ensure our platform remains a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for everyone.
Respectful Communication
When contributing to a memorial, remember that you are in a shared space of mourning and celebration.
- Be Kind and Empathetic: Focus on sharing positive memories, condolences, and support.
- Respect Privacy: Do not share sensitive personal information (like private medical details or financial matters) about the deceased or their family without explicit permission from the memorial owner.
- Constructive Engagement: Disagreements within families or friend groups should be handled privately, not in the public space of a memorial.
Cultural Sensitivity
We serve a diverse, global user base. We ask all users to honor this diversity:
- Respect Traditions: Recognize that funeral customs, mourning periods, and memorial practices vary widely between religions and cultures.
- Appropriate Tributes: Ensure that your contributions (messages, photos, symbols) are appropriate for the specific cultural or religious context of the memorial.
Content Boundaries
While we encourage open expression of grief and love, certain content is not permitted. Please refer to our Content Moderation Policy for strict rules regarding prohibited content, including hate speech, harassment, and illegal activities.
Handling Disputes
The Owner(s) of a memorial have the final say on what content remains on their page. They have the right to remove any contributions they feel are inappropriate or out of place. If you believe content violates our terms or policies, you can use the reporting tools provided on the platform.
Support Resources
If you or someone you know is struggling with grief, we encourage you to seek professional support. We have compiled a list of respected global resources to help you find the care you need.
Please visit our Struggling with Grief page for immediate crisis lines and specialized international support organizations.
